How much are your plain donuts????
Was super excited to try this place after reading all the reviews. Menu was pricey, but I assumed it would be worth it given all the fanfare here. I assumed wrong. The malasadas were made fresh and were hot and the different sugar flavorings were a nice touch. Unfortunately, the dough was just too dense and heavy. It was like eating a pound cake as opposed to being light and fluffy as expected. They weren't awful. They just weren't anything to write home about. Definitely not worth driving to if you aren't in the immediate area. Had really high hopes, but it just wasn't that great.
MoreBest Malasadas on Big Island ! 🤙, ....Believe me we went on a damn malasada hunt.
MoreUnreal! Almost like a beignet. We are so happy we stopped on our way home from Hapuna!!!
MoreGreat malasada truck that's definitely worth stopping at. Note: it is cash only!!There is an American savings bank with an atm in parking lot in case you're reading this too late :)
MoreOh wow... this was so worth the hype. Best food truck in Hawaii!
Omg... totally awesome! They mango filled was the bomb!!!
Delicious and hot malasadas served from a food truck. I recommend the li-hing sugar topping! The guava filling malasada didn't taste like guava, so I might stay away from that next time
MoreLi hing mui sugar malasadas are amazing! The plain sugar ones are excellent, too. Cooked to order, it takes less than 10 minutes to rekindle your love for these wonderful dough balls.
MoreDelicious! Made fresh to order - so you have to wait about 10minutes but so worth it. They were so good we came back the next day at 10am when google said they’d be open but weren’t :( and will stop by before we go to the airport even though it’s in opposite direction....they are just that good!!!
MoreMalasadas are best hot!
These things are evil. They haunt your dreams. Like a donut but better. Rolled in sugar or stuffed with some fruit jam. Best eaten when warm.
MoreFresh and good
The malasadas here are so yummy!! I don't get them as often as I want because they're kind of expensive for how small they are but when I need my fix they always come through! They're friendly and my kids love having these on special occasions.
MoreAbsolutely delicious... soooooo many options, made to order. I'm stopping by every day for the rest of my trip! You should deginately stop by.
MoreWow. I'm almost speechless about Manuela's Malasada truck. "It broke da mouth" as the saying goes. I'm not if the wonderful lady that was helping us was Manuela but she also deserves 5 stars for sharing her aloha spirit. She gave us recommendations and we happily accepted them. The best way to go is buying the dozen for about $18 ( it's actually a bakers dozen or two Haha). We ordered the Bavarian creme filled (personal fave), passion fruit (lilikoi) filled, caramel filled. These can be topped with different types of sugars for a personal touch. Thank you Manuela's Malasada stand for being so much joy to me and my family's belly!!
MoreMalasadas were good, took a little while but were made fresh to order. Prices are a little high.
MoreGood food good location service lacking
The best!!! Oh my!!! Never pass them up!!! She sells out very early. So make it your first stop!
MoreJust drove up there and though it says on Google their business hours, they were not open at 10:00 AM on Tuesday. Bummer!!
MoreSo yummy. Worth the drive from kona.
Delicious Donut's worth coming back for more.
Unique donuts service great stuff
Fresh made to order, don't get any fresher than this. Support local businesses
Great donuts with a variety of fillings to choose from
We tried purchasing some donuts but unfortunately she was cash only. After digging through our wallets, we realized we had $6. Lucky for us, Manuela Malasada Co. advertises a 3* for 6 donut offering on her menu. After waiting in line behind 2 lovely people (coincidentally both from Oregon), we opted to use our $6 for the box of 3 donuts.Despite offering the 3* for $6, she declined us service and set an arbitrary minimum purchase of 6 donuts (not consistent with her menu). She claimed she was far too busy to sell anything less than 6 donuts.I get it, there were 2 other people waiting for donuts. Maybe you were busier than normal. But you left us hanging, completely donut-less.
MoreAmazing malasadas. It would be even more amazing if they didn't use styrofoam as your to-go container.
MoreGreat malasada donuts freshly cooked to order
Absolutely delicious and made to order so they're extra fresh. Try the Li-Hing sugar coating with lilikoi filling and you'll feel like you're in heaven! BTW you're looking for a food truck (across from Ace Hardware), not a store.
MoreFresh donuts, cooked to order. Some of the best I have ever had.The owner is a cheerful dude, which adds to the hands down amazing experience. Please do yourself a favor and stop by this truck.
MoreGreat variety and made to order! #bigisland #hawaii #represent
Peanut butter and chocolate malasada is the best I have ever had
Wow! These donuts are really good!!
We were lucky enough to pass the Malasadas blue food truck/trailer on our drive out to Havi. So glad we turned around! The malasadas were to die for and Kandi was so generous, kind and helpful with getting us our order. Definitely worth the wait! Delicious doughy duo! The custard filled ones are scrumptious! Order one of each! You won’t regret it!
MoreI stopped by for a malasada and they told me they only sell a minimum of 3 for six dollars. Why you have to be so mean to old, single people who don’t have much money. That’s not fair or right.
MoreBetter than Tex's, better than Leonard's, best malasadas we've had. These are ah-ma-zing. Lilikoi and guava are the best.
MoreWent to get some malasadas... stood there for a good 15 mins , hollered, no one came window was open🤷♀️walked away with no malasadas.
MoreI dont know why I can't review the one I had on Kona near the highway but it was amazing! We loved the lillikoi filling one and I had the nutella! the lady was super great!
MoreI have the pleasure of eating these malasadas every 90 days when I visit Hawaii. You may have to wait as this spot is always hopping, but I don't care if I have to wait an hour for them... They are the best! So enjoy some fresh lemonade or next to them the man who cuts coconut and hang out and enjoy the beautiful Hawaiian air as trust me, its always worth the wait!
MoreStopped by on a beautiful Saturday morning and was pleasantly greeted by one of the most friendliest people i have ever met. Mr Richardson has made my trip here worth every penny and because of him i will return. 5 stars for his service.
MoreFresh, hot & delicious! Make sure to stop here 👍🏻
Based on the wildly positive reviews, we paid a visit. Not that these were poor but they aren’t special. Average quality dough and the toppings are really standard. Not worth going out of your way for.But the lady at the stand was really lovely.
MoreLooked good but not hot and what happened to the filling? Nothing inside only on the top! The one by the Mamalahoa Highway was made to order and amazing.
MoreA bit more expensive than Tex Drive-In, but much more conveniently located and way, way better. Takes about 7 minutes to make a batch, and they are always done to order. Wow.
MoreFried to order malasada (Portuguese donuts) out of a little food truck. Cash only. The donuts are sold in multiple of 3s, so unfortunately cannot buy just one. You can customize the donut with different types of sugar (free) and fillings (extra).
MoreGreat and friendly service, fair prices, and the Malasadas themselves are phenomenal. Be sure to stop by if you’re in the area!
MoreHard to go wrong with warm dough, fruit/ cream filling, and sugar. Very tasty! However, we did not receive the mix of fillings and sugars that we ordered. We still enjoyed eating them
MoreThe Malasads were soooooo good. The gentleman who helped us was super friendly!!
Not bad. Very tasty and hot! Not as good as Leonard's bakery back in Honolulu though. :)
MoreAmazing donuts and great, friendly service! The sugar coated donut that is sweet&sour plum flavored was my favorite ❤️❤️❤️
MoreBest malasadas I've ever eaten. The peanut butter and chocolate combo ones were amazing!
